I am an Assistant Professor in Comparative Politics at the London School of Economics. I welcome inquiries from researchers, journalists, and students in the following areas:
1. Political and ethnic violence: I am particularly interested in civil wars, ethnic conflicts, and genocides, and to a lesser extent terrorism, insurgency, and guerrilla warfare.
2. African politics. I have a particular interest in the Great Lakes region comprising Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
3. Ethnic and religious diversity: I am interested in both the conceptualization and measurement of ethnic diversity and in strategies to mitigate its less desirable effects.
